Thu , your daughter is so lucky to be SO LOVED! ...her essence and moods are literally painted “ IN GOLD” that someday...she will have a visual diary of these golden moments...when life casts its shadows...and she will have the Light of your love to remind her of how beautiful and SPECIAL she is!!..LF Thank you for gracing this contest with them...LF

Artist's Description

A Sad Story, oil on aluminum panel, image size 12 x 12 inches, frame size 17 x 17 inches

about the model:
Amelie-An was born in Can Tho, South Vietnam in February 2008 under a very dim star. She was abandoned as an infant due to her medical problems which left her disfigured and mentally retarded. I adopted her in December of 2008 and fell in love with Amelie-An the moment I first held her in my arms. She smiled at me and I just knew we were meant to be together. I had not intended to do any more paintings but I found myself being obsessed with capturing her fleeting emotions. When I paint her it feels like a way to show a uniquely personal side of her that is often hidden by her disabilities.

During my high school years, I earned extra money doing fashion modeling work in the garment district and upon graduation started on the pre-med program in college. During this...
