This painting portrays the contrast between the stereotype of a carefree sweet childhood with the reality of a life often filled with anxiety, confusion and loneliness. While the girls in costume and are ready to perform their Hula Dance but seem physically and emotionally detached from their environment.
Merrie Monarch Festival 2016
In the spirit of Aloha, The Big Island is home to the famous Merrie Monarch Festival! This Festival is a weeklong celebration that takes place in Hilo, Hawaii. Festivities usually begin on Easter Sunday and conclude with a hula competition.
