Thinking of metal print by Thu Nguyen. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. about the model:
Amelie-An was born in Can Tho, South Vietnam in February 2008 under a very dim star. She was abandoned as an infant due to her medical problems which left her disfigured and mentally retarded. I adopted her December of 2008 and fell in love with Amelie-An the moment I first held her in my arms. She smiled at me and I just knew we were meant to be together. The first painting I did was to celebrate the transformation of her appearance after her first surgery. I had not intended to do any more paintings but I found myself being obsessed with capturing her fleeting emotions. When I paint her it feels like a way to show a uniquely personal side of her that is often hidden by her disabilities.
About Thu Nguyen
I was born in Saigon, Vietnam. Being very shy, I spent much of my childhood hiding away upstairs painting, instead of playing with other children. My first brush with success was a Best of Show prize at the 1974 children's exhibition in Saigon sponsored by UNICEF. In 1975 Saigon fell and in the resulting confusion I was separated from my parents. I ended up in a refuge camp near Hong Kong for a year prior to immigrating to the United States as an orphan. After one very snowy and cold winter in Pennsylvania, I went to Los Angeles to stay with some relatives.
